The story behind CBD

CBD, or cannabidiol, is derived from the cannabis plant. This is the plant that also contains the much-talked-about psychoactive THC. However, CBD oil contains less than 0.2% or no THC. It is usually mixed with other oils such as hemp seed oil. It is non-psychoactive and non-addictive, but consumers have reported many positive benefits from its use.
According to some sources, it was used to make poultices in England in the 17th century. The first written evidence of hemp extracts in Hungary dates back to 1871, when it was mentioned as an official medicine in the pages of the Pharmacopoeia. American chemist Roger Adams isolated CBD in 1942, but research focusing on its effects on our bodies only began after 1980. Studies have been ongoing ever since, although CBD oil has since been used all over the world to treat a variety of ailments and alleviate symptoms.

How does it work?
CBD oil works through the endocannabinoid system found in humans and many mammals. This helps to promote homeostasis (balance) in the body and encourages self-healing. The oil therefore acts on this endocannabinoid system: it fights unhealthy cells and helps restore the natural state. It also regulates body functions such as pain, appetite, sleep, immunity and mood.
Every person’s body reacts differently to CBD, due to their gender, age, weight and the severity of their problem. It is recommended to start a CBD treatment with 2-3 drops a day and then increase the amount later once you are used to it.

It is non-psychoactive and non-addictive, but consumers have reported many positive benefits from its use.

What is it good for?
There are many benefits to using CBD oil. Regular consumers have reported a range of positive experiences from acne reduction to relief from chronic illnesses. In addition, it is an excellent antioxidant, while also having a strong anti-inflammatory effect. Studies have shown that several doctors have successfully supplemented CBD oil in the treatment of diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. In cases of increased stress or anxiety, CBD oil has been shown to reduce blood pressure and negative responses in anxious people.
Some studies have also shown that CBD can improve concentration and is beneficial for brain and cognitive function.
It has also been shown to be good against osteoporosis, helping the formation of new bone cells and thus speeding up the healing of broken bones. CBD, as well as hemp seed oil, is also blended into cosmetics as its antioxidant content promotes skin regeneration, inhibits ageing and provides excellent hydration.
